    I think either is OK. I googled “slime mold” and got loads of hits – wikipedia for instance – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slime_mold
    I wonder if it’s one of those UK/US differences.

    Mold (meaning structure) and mould (meaning fungi) is a good distinction. We don’t have it in the US.
