Talking of flatulence problems, here’s some sub-Riefenstahl military bombast from Iranian TV with a strong fascist whiff about it. The band at the start sounds more like the Salvation Army on a bad day, but it gets better as Zulfiqar, the sword of Ali – represented by warriors whose faces are “radiant with love of the revolution” – pierces in two the US flag.

We shout the glory of the name of Iran on the summit of fame and dignity.

Our proud Iran is proud of you – its brave children.

What’s with the trombon? at the end of every verse : “ua ua uaaa…”
    Looks like a joke.

It did occur to me that MEMRI might have stuck a bit of a comedy brass soundtrack on there with, as you say, that great trombone part, but really it’s not what they do. I’m sure it’s genuine.

Did you notice that the star of David is wrong? It has 8 points, not 6.

No, the star with the 8 points symbolizes Islam. There is a six-pointed star next to the Swastika in the American colors.
Yeah, I thought MEMRI too, but I guess I am not used to Persian military marches.

Fabian, thanks for clearing that up. I wonder why I never knew that.
