   On a more serious note, the birds’ discipline in maintaining a fairly even edge (actually a fluid outer boundary) is quite remarkable. I’d guess that the odd newbie or rogue breaks ranks occasionally but still…
   I can certainly understand how individuals try to maintain distance between themselves while in flight, but who decides, at any given moment, who’s initiating a particular maneuver?
