Lots of wonderful pictures of steel works, plus the odd coal mine.

Those pics are cold and dead; they convey NOTHING of the reality of steelmaking. The unbelievable power, heat and noise of a melt shop is completely lost. Sorry, as B&W architectural photos they’re ok, but that’s it.
For the record, I’ve worked in a smelter, and taken colour shots that make you FEEL the white hot metal.

Well no, I wouldn’t claim the photos convey the “reality of steelmaking”. I just think they’re stunning, but clearly not everyone will agree.
